We are all aware of the chaos that ensued when Apple dropped Google Maps in
favor of their own, built from the ground up Maps App. Wrong
directions, misplaced and missing cities and towns all resulted in
complaints from the public and resulted in a public apology from Tim
Cook, CEO of Apple. And now, they have received a warning from police in
Victoria, Australia over people being directed to and stranded in the
middle of a National Park with unforgiving territory. People have been
told to use alternative mapping apps while Apple put theirs right, but we are still waiting for that to happen.
However, the wait is over for a good, accurate Maps App, because Google
Maps has arrived back the App Store. As promised, the new Maps App is
for all iPhone’s and iPods running iOS 5.1 or higher, although iPad
support is not there yet. The new app is smooth and glitch-free. It is
vector-based which means it is very fast to load and supports
high-resolution displays, doing away with the fuzziness and blurring
evident on some Maps apps.
Google Maps Features :
- The App includes free Voice guided turn by turn navigation
- Street view with 360 degree panoramas
- Live traffic information and public transport routes as well as access to Google Earth itself.
- It has 3-D building views, walking directions and facilities to search local businesses.
These are just a few of the features available on the app. For more
details and to experience the delights of a truly accurate Maps app head
over to the App Store today or Google Play Store for those on Android,
and download it now, free of charge.
Compatibility :
Compatible with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPod touch
(3rd generation), iPod touch (4th generation), iPod touch (5th
generation) and iPad. Requires iOS 5.1 or later. This app is optimized
for iPhone 5.
